BRF Update - November 21
Animal Technician’s week – BRF team offsite 10th Nov
Next week is animal technician’s week, where we celebrate the contribution of our techs and team overall in providing quality animal care, and support for the success of research projects. As part of the celebrations, most of the team will be offsite/unavailable after 8am on Weds 10th Nov (they will be here 7-8am to complete regular daily checks and critical tasks). Signage will be placed with contact numbers for emergencies.
If this will cause any issues or concerns at all please let us know ASAP.
Internal transfers
These are normally performed on Weds/Fri, however next week only internal transfers will be performed Tues/Fri due to the clash with 10th Nov. Our interfacility transfers (e.g TRI to AIBN) will be unchanged on Tues/Thurs. ARC orders will be arriving on Thurs.
Senior manager – leave 8-19th Nov
I will be on leave for 2 weeks starting next week, Karen Knox and Michelle Spraggon are kindly stepping up into the Senior Manager and Deputy Manager roles respectively whilst I am away.
Spare C57Bl/6 females
Please see attached for a list of spare 12 week old C57Bl/6 females. If you are able to utilise these animals please email [email protected].
Mosaic – extended deadline to 31st Jan for recording culls/animal movements in Mosaic
Due to a delay in delivery of IT equipment, and to minimise confusion and issues over the end of year shutdown, the deadline has been extended. The use of the physical cull log in 1073 will be discontinued at the end of January 2022.
Preclinical Imaging survey
Many of you would have received this already, but for those who have not yet used the Preclinical Imaging Facility at the TRI BRF I have attached an important survey for your feedback.
Reduction of breeding over the end of year shutdown
For those labs with colonies breeding at TRI, we wanted to provide notice that reducing breeder pair setups over the next two weeks (8-19th Nov) will reduce the number of litters requiring weaning and sampling 6 weeks later, over the end of year shutdown. If this is helpful to you please take this into consideration when making breeding requests.
Special diets – update from our feed supplier
This will only be relevant to labs using certain special diets (info sheets and update attached) about a change to the ingredient in these diets.
As always, please let us know if you have any queries or concerns at all.
