BRF Update October (3) 2019
We have even more October updates as we rush towards the end of the year, please read on:
Card access changes
The setup of access to different areas in the BRF has been reviewed and refined which has been a big ongoing task incorporating all of our different areas, users (~300) and training pre-requisites. Everyone’s card access accounts are currently in the process of being updated to match a set template which has been developed in consultation with building operations and security. If you experience any issues with your card access in the BRF please do not hesitate to contact us by emailing [email protected] (and cc’ in [email protected]).
Spare C57Bl/6 mice
Please see attached for some available C57BL/6 mice belonging to the Florin lab that they will not be able to use for experiments and are not needed for breeding. They are naïve stock animals in the breeding wing. If you have ethics approval to work with these animals and would like to utilise them please contact [email protected] ASAP.
Eli tail tattoos – 2 week old mice
The BRF have purchased a tail tattoo machine that will be able to work with ~2 week old mice. This system is used extensively by the Australian Bioresources facility (one the main vendors in Australia). The equipment is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. If you are interested in trialling this service please contact [email protected] which an indication of what lines/how many animals in the breeding wing you would like to have tattooed so that we can plan for the requirements for consumables purchasing. At this stage this service will not be cost-recovered, same as our tail tattooing service for adults, but this may be reviewed depending on demand.
