A macrophage network in the liver capsule forms a firewall against peritoneal infections

Presented by Associate Professor Patrick Bertolino who obtained his PhD in Lyon (France) in 1992 and then undertook post-doctoral studies at the WEHI (Melbourne), ENS-Lyon (France) and Centenary Institute (Sydney).  He is a Faculty member at the Centenary Institute where he leads the Liver Immunology Program. He is considered one of the leading experts in Liver Immunology internationally, and is acknowledged as the leader in this field in Australia. His group has made major contributions in Liver Immunology using transgenic mouse models, advanced imaging technology and flow cytometry to understand how T cells interact and are instructed by hepatic cells in both the healthy and diseased or transplanted liver.
