SPARQ-ed Winners at Queensland Education Awards

As a part of the STEM Horizons for High Achievers Program, SPARQ-ed, along with three other partner organisations, have received the 2017 Excellence in Industry Partnerships Award at the Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools.

The STEM Horizons program consists of SPARQ-ed, Brisbane Urban Environmental Education Centre (EEC), Moreton Bay EEC, and Toohey Forest EEC.

SPARQ-Ed teacher Ezequiel Balmori Melian said, “We would like to congratulate everybody who supported the program throughout the years, in a big part it is their award”.

The STEM Horizons for High Achievers is growing every year with more applications than there are places. The program is aimed at upper primary and junior secondary students and provides a four day immersion program at TRI.

Program activities are ‘hands on’ and provide opportunities for students to actively engage in higher order thinking and problem solving.

The SPARQ-ed program continues to contribute to young people choosing science, technology, engineering and mathematics as a viable and worthwhile career path.

The team are now well on their way for 2018 being another successful year and encourage anyone who would like to be involved in the program to get in touch.
