UQDI Seminar Series
Presented by Professor Ian Hitchcock, York Biomedical Research Institute, University of York
Ttitle: 'Too much and not enough: balancing the scales of haematopoiesis'
Ian Hitchcock is a Professor of Experimental Haematology and focuses on the molecular mechanisms regulating haematopoiesis, in particular thrombopoietin signalling via its receptor MPL, which is critical for the maintenance of haematopoietic stem cells and platelet production.
Current research focuses on the roles of MPL and associated oncogene in driving the development of myeloproliferative neoplasms and the development of novel therapies to reduce the pathology of these diseases.
