BRF Update - February 2021

I hope the year has gotten off to a good start, it has been busy for the BRF, particularly as we have had a number of people away (both planned and unplanned) – read on for a number of important updates:

ARC animal deliveries

Please see update attached, unfortunately due to complications with the weather and subsequent animal welfare requirements, animal deliveries from ARC will be delayed to Thurs/Fri this week.

MyResearch feedback

We have been working through feedback of our own and also supplied to us on the new MyResearch animal ethics system. For feedback on the functionality of the system, I recommend contacting [email protected] to ensure this reaches the developers. Other contacts can be found here: https://research.uq.edu.au/rmbt/myresearch/contact-us

Mosaic – additional functionality for lab notes

Please see update email attached with instructions – Mosaic now has the ability for researchers to make their own notes on animal records, to assist with experimental and colony management planning. BRF staff also have the option to use this new field to note pregnant females. Please let us know of any feedback or queries in regards to this functionality.

Research coordinator role

Karen Knox has officially returned to the Research Coordinator role as of 8th February, although unfortunately she has had to take unexpected leave for most of last week and this week. Thank you to Brad who has continued covering this role in her absence. Karen will be working part time Mon-Tues, Fri (not Thursdays) – please let us know if you encounter any issues or have any questions at all as this is a new arrangement for us for this role.

Rona Barugahare – on leave 22nd Feb to 12th March

I will be on leave for 3 weeks starting on Monday and Rodrick Rupan will be acting in my role. We are still working through a number of staffing challenges so please bear with us as there will be likely delays to enquiries and possibly some services during this time.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries or concerns.
