diagnostic IMAGING
The Translational Research Institute (TRI) features an advanced suite of clinical and diagnostic imaging facilities based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
These include 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging Positron Emission Tomography (MRI-PET) and Prisma scanners, which allow for precision whole body anatomical and metabolic imaging and image-guided biopsy and radiotherapy.
In particular, the new MR-PET capability has provided oncology with the ability to use tracers in patients providing diagnostic accuracy from high-resolution images.
The TRI embarked on an exciting series of projects related to diagnostic imaging following appointment of former TRI CEO and Director of Research Professor Carolyn Mountford in March 2015.
These projects and imaging facilities are part of the TRI Innovation and Translation Centre in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers, established in 2016 to support further advances in this area. Find out more.
