BRF Update - May 2022
I hope everyone has had the opportunity to get some kind of a break/holidays around the numerous public holidays over the last month! The short weeks add on quite a few operational pressures for the BRF so we’re looking forward to returning to a regular schedule.
We have a number of key updates:
BRF staff position changes/updates
Senior Manager – I am now back in this role, and I would like to thank Karen Knox for covering this role over the last couple of months, it is a huge workload normally but Karen took it on part time and did a fantastic job working through various challenges!
Deputy Manager – Welcome back to Rodrick Rupan, Rodrick has returned to the role of deputy facility manager after filling a secondment in a compliance role with UQBR, we are very glad to have his expanded expertise back on board. A massive thanks to Karen for her excellent work in taking on the Deputy Manager role whilst Rick was away, and to Brad Buchan for covering this role whilst Karen stepped up to the Senior Manager role.
Research Coordinator – Karen Knox has returned to this role – a massive thank you to Aimee Scott who covered this role over the last 10 months, as well as to Matt Williams and Paige Foster who covered the H5 Senior Animal Technical Officer role (which Aimee is returning to).
HEW 5 Senior Animal Technical Officer (gnotobiotics) - congratulations to Lauren Windt who has secured the HEW 5 role, Lauren previously held the position in the gnotobiotics team as a HEW 4, and we are excited to see how this new position progresses for the team.

Reminder – booking etiquette for BRF spaces
The BRF SOC has asked to remind users about the need to book procedure rooms/hoods in the BRF when required, and to cancel/update bookings when not required to help everyone utilise the facility as effectively as possible.
