Program

9:00am - 9:15am: ArcherDX - targeted sequencing solutions

Mike Yarski, Millennium Science

Archer addresses the bottlenecks associated with using next-generation sequencing in translational research by offering a robust platform for targeted sequencing applications. By combining proprietary Anchored Multiplexed PCR (AMP) chemistry and easy-to-use, lyophilized reagents, ArcherDX technology generates highly enriched sequencing libraries to detect gene fusions, SNPs, indels and CNVs. Complemented by the Archer suite of bioinformatics software and readily accessible reports, ArcherDX technology dramatically enhances complex mutation identification and discovery.

9:15am - 9:45am: Ingenuity systems solutions

Mike Yarski, Millennium Science

Ingenuity Systems (A QIAGEN company supported by Millennium Science in Australia and New Zealand) is a software platform for life science researchers to explore, interpret and analyze complex biological systems. Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) is a powerful analysis and search tool that uncovers the significance of ‘omics data and allows you to quickly understand and visualize your data in the context of biological pathways. With Ingenuity Variant Analysis (IVA), you can find disease-causing variants faster, and with fewer false leads. Both IPA and IVA leverage the Ingenuity knowledge database built from over 16 years of expertly and manually curating millions of scientific findings.

9:45am – 10:30am: 10X Genomics single cell and WGS solutions

Brian Fritz, 10X Genomics, Senior Product Manager, Single Cell Genomics

Deanna Church, 10X Genomics, 10X Genomics Senior Director of Applications

10X Genomics is revolutionising whole genome sequencing and single cell analysis by changing the definition of next generation sequencing. The core 10X Genomics technology, GemCode, creates a unique reagent delivery system that partitions cells or arbitrarily long DNA molecules (including >100 kb) and prepares sequencing libraries in parallel such that all fragments produced within a partition share a common barcode. This session will explore how the Gemcode technology can be used to support (i) high-throughput single cell expression measurements for molecular profiling of individual cell types, (ii) profiling full-length paired V(D)J transcripts of lymphocytes to study the adaptive immune system and (iii) long range information on a genome-wide scale, including variant calling, phasing and extensive characterization of genomic structure.

11:00am – 11:40am: Next-Generation Sequencing Systems and Applications

Gavin Wilkie, Field Applications Scientist, Illumina

Illumina NGS platforms and applications, with some examples of how the technology has been used to solve problems.  Illumina is a global company with a vision to be the leading provider of integrated solutions that advance the understanding of genetics and health. Our goal is to improve human health by enabling our customers to accelerate the collection, analysis, and application of biological information. Our broad portfolio of leading-edge sequencing and array-based solutions address a range of genomic complexity and throughput, enabling researchers to select the best solution for their scientific challenge.

11:40am – 12:20pm: Introducing Unique Molecular Indices Technology

QIAGEN is the leading global provider of Sample & Assay Technologies that are used to transform biological materials into valuable molecular information. QIAGEN has recently released a complete Sample to Insight Technologies for targeted sequencing. Our QIASeq targeted panels incorporate Unique Molecular Indices for more accurate quantification, overcoming PCR duplicates and amplification bias, which can be traditionally problematic in targeted sequencing.

12:20pm – 1:00pm: Droplet Digital PCR™ Technology – Application Focus

Jennifer McMahon, PhD , Bio-Rad, Senior Account Manager – Applications

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. has remained at the centre of scientific discovery for more than 65 years, manufacturing and distributing a broad range of products for the life science research and clinical diagnostic markets. Bio-Rad is renowned worldwide among hospitals, universities, major research institutions, as well as biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies for its commitment to quality and customer service.

Droplet Digital PCR™ (ddPCR) is Bio-Rad’s unique digital PCR technology that uses sample partitioning to provide unrivalled precision for the absolute quantification of target DNA or RNA Molecules.  ddPCR has already led to several research breakthroughs in fields such as cancer biomarker discovery, infectious diseases, genomic alterations and gene expression.   This presentation will introduce how ddPCR can be applied to NGS library quantification, SNP detection/monitoring and copy number variation.
