For 14 years the UCSC Genome Browser (http://genome.ucsc.edu) has been providing a visual display for genomic data from human and other organisms, now  numbering more than 80. Serving nearly 200,000 different users monthly, the Browser has grown to be a collection of bioinformatics tools useful for many applications in biomedical research.

Dr. Robert Kuhn, Associate Director of the UCSC Genome Browser, will be visiting Australia this September, and will deliver two workshops in
Brisbane on the use and applications of the Browser. 

Introductory workshop: 9.00-10.30am, Monday 8th September
This presentation will demonstrate the Browser and a selected set of the most useful features, with an emphasis on handling high-throughput sequencing data.

Advanced workshop: 2.00pm-5.00pm, Monday 8th September
The advanced workshop will provide an interactive forum for hands-on instruction in the use of the Browser and associated tools. Participants should bring their own fully charged laptops and come prepared to ask questions.

Registration:
Attendance at the introductory workshop is free and no registration is required. The advanced workshop is $50* and will be limited to 30 participants.
