Translational Research Symposium Key-notes to Show where PhD Can take you
Formerly named the TRI Student Poster Symposium, now in its sixth year the event will host two fantastic key note speakers Dr David Loch and Dr Nikki Sims-Chilton. Dr Loch is an associate patent and trade mark attorney with Spruson and Ferguson and Dr Sims-Chilton is a principal project officer in the Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist where she manages the Engaging Queenslanders in Science strategy. Together they will be discussing their career paths and how their PhD’s have taken them beyond the conventional science career. The Translational Research Symposium continues to grow in size with the 26 July event including 17 exhibitors and sponsors, 8 guest speakers, 12 oral presentations, 121 posters and over $3000 in prize money. Other highlights of the program include a discussion panel focussing on ‘Careers beyond Academia’- the six panellist coming from diverse career backgrounds will help attendees to think outside the square when it comes to their own research journey, realising possibilities that may not have been previously thought of.
