TRI discusses the latest in the war against obesity
The Translation Research Institute (TRI), Australia’s most innovative biomedical research facility, will hold a Café Scientifique on Sunday 12 October 2014.
The topic for 2014 will be ‘Fighting Fat – the latest in the war against obesity’ and focus on the issue of obesity, and discuss strategies to overcome this problem.
TRI will host the event as part of the Brisbane Open House weekend. Guests will have the opportunity to hear from four leading experts across the science and health industries including Dr Jeanette Young, Chief Health Officer, QLD, as they discuss the latest discoveries and strategies in targeting Australia’s obesity epidemic.
Dr Ingrid Hickman, Director of Research, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Professor Mark Morrison, Chair & Group Leader Metagenomics, University of Queensland Diamantina Institute and Stephanie Fay, Doctoral researcher, Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University of Technology complete the speaker line up for this fantastic event.
A Cafe Scientifique aims to demystify scientific research for the general public and empower non-scientists to more comfortably and accurately assess science and technology issues, particularly those that impact on social policy making.
