day of Immunology 2017
The World Day of Immunology is celebrated at the end of April every year with a range of activities hosted by the Australian Society of Immunology (ASI). TRI is proud to host the public forum here in our auditorium and high school immersion programs in the University of Queensland SPARQed lab located on level 2. The program will include 2 sessions for students and a free forum with building tours for members of the public. See the details below for information about events for you.

PUBLIC EVENT - 27 APRIL 2017
All members of the public are welcome to join us for building tours, vaccination cafe, art exhibition and presentations from our immunology researchers. Our early career researchers will be delivering 3 minute presentations, learning how to better communicate science to all audiences, and we're asking you to vote on the best.

Student Programs at SPARQed
As part of the 2017 Day of Immunology, the ASI and SPARQed bring you 2 days of Immunology programs. The "Day in the Life of an Immunologist" is for students in years 11 and 12 with the "Disease Outbreak" program designed for years 6 and 7.
A maximum of 2 tickets per school are available, with a waiting list for those with additional interested students. Tickets are $5 to cover the cost of administration.

ECr 3 minute presentation - competition
Early career researchers, including PhD students and Postdocs, here’s your opportunity to deliver a three minute presentation on your research at the Day of Immunology Public Forum on Thursday 27th April 2017.
Your presentations must be delivered free of non-specialist language and easy to understand by the general public.
All accepted entries have a chance to win a years subscription to the Australasian Society for Immunology plus a $200 gift certificate.

Eligibility:
- Open to all active PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers within five years of post-PhD award
- You must be able to attend the Day of Immunology Event on Thursday 27 April 2017 from 6.00pm to give your presentation.
To enter:
- Submit a 150 word abstract with the title of your talk (be creative but use non-specialist language)
- Submit a 3-minute video of your pitch (note: you will not be judged on the quality of the video but the quality of your pitch! Use your phone)
- Send these to [email protected] by 5.00pm on Sunday 9 April. Please note the file size needs to be 25MB or less. If bigger, you may want to compress your files.
What happens next?
- The ASI committee will review your submissions and the top candidates will be selected to present at the Day of Immunology Event on the Thursday 27 April at TRI.
- The public will vote for their favourite and the prizes will be presented to the best PhD student and the best Postdoc researcher.
