Arutha Kalasinghe Awarded the Peter Doherty Early Career Fellowship
Congratulations to QUT and TRI based reasercher Dr Arutha Kalasinghe who has this week been awarded the NHMRC Peter Doherty Biomedical Early Career Fellowship.
Aurtha was awarded his fellowship for Precision Medicine in the Immunotherapy Era. Arutha is characterising circulating tumour cells and circulating tumour DNA to provide information about a patient’s tumour. This study aims to use this information about tumour dynamics to predict a patient’s likelihood to respond to targeted immunotherapies and the benefit of this treatment. This predictive test would use a simple blood test thereby reducing unnecessary healthcare burden on healthcare providers, and providing better treatment options for patients.
