TopicFireside chat with NHMRC CEO, Professor Steve Wesselingh

The EMCR Networking morning teas are a monthly event for TRI-based Early and Mid-Career Researchers and MSH and CHQ Early and Mid-Career clinicians. Bring along your coffee mug and enjoy morning tea while networking with your peers. At the July morning tea you will hear our special guest speaker, NHMRC CEO, Professor Steve Wesselingh.

Professor Wesselingh is an infectious diseases physician and researcher. He undertook his undergraduate and doctoral training at Flinders University and his post-doctoral training at Johns Hopkins in the United States. Until July 2023, Professor Wesselingh was the inaugural Executive Director of the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). He was also a member of NHMRC Council, Chair of Research Committee, and the President of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS).

During the fireside chat Professor Wesselingh will cover numerous topics including providing his own career reflections, ideas on grants and thoughts on research sustainability (including strengthening resilience to emerging health threats and emergencies, including pandemics, environmental change and antimicrobial resistance). There will be plenty of time for Q&A, so be sure to bring along any queries you have for Professor Wesselingh.
